Abstract:

Baimajian is the highest peak of Dabie Mountain, with an altitude of 1774 meters situated at the southern part of Huoshan County in Anhui Province.A list of vascular plants of Baimajian prepared from different sources contains 173 families, 710 genera, 1450 species (including subspecies, varieties and form). There are 144 families, 662 genera and 1348 species have been nominated. According to their distribution pattern, the total number of genera are classified in to several groups. The floristic characteristic of Baimajian are briefly summarized as follows:

1. The components of the flora are characterized by temperate elements.

2. Those genera of north temperate elements counted as the main components, the tropical genera have a record of 36.6%.

The "point-centred quarter method" was adopted and the evergreen broad-leaf forest is found in lower altitude (150–200m.). The deciduous-evergreen mixed forest in mid-altitude (900–1200m.) is distributed.

The similarities of floristic elements and vegetation types between Yixing-Liyang (Jiangsu Province) and Baimajian (Anhui Province) exhibit their most closely relationships. We suggest that they are a part of North subtropic vegetation region.
