Abstract: The area studied is located in Taishun county-south part of Zhejiang Province (27˚N, l19˚E). It belongs to the Dongong range. The climatic and soil conditions, under which the evergreen broad-leaf forest is developed, are described. The floristic composition of the community in 3300m2 area of plots consists of 176 species, which belong to 65 families and 113 genera, the three dominant families are Fagaceae, Lauraceae and Theaceae. The analysis of floristic geographical elements indicates that the tropical and subtropical elements are in high percentage among which the subtropical endemic elements are dominant. The physiognomy of the community was analyzed on the basis of life forms of plants and their leaf characters. The community structure was given. Finally, the similarity of the communities was discussed with Index of Similarity. All 7 plots were classified into 4 groups. 23 woody species were analyzed with index of association (Morisita, 1959), and 3 close correlation species groups have been obtained. Authors consider that a further understanding of the characters of the evergreen broad-leaf forest may be dependent on the study of Index of Similarity and Index of Association.
